Carbohydrates in Cheese

Are carbohydrates in cheese bad or good? How come this ”ceramic” food gets the bad reputation? Cheddar cheese is creamy, cheesy, and has a very pleasant nutty flavor. It is used in many different recipes and is a very popular dairy product, made with pasteurized milk, by coagulation of casein, a protein. It contains fat and proteins from milk, most commonly the casein of cattle, goats, buffaloes, or sheep.

How many calories are there in a serving of cheddar cheese? The calorie count depends on how much fat and protein are in the cheese, as well as what other nutrition factors are involved. A serving of cheddar has about one hundred fifty calories, which is the equivalent of about one ounce of cheese. About twenty percent of these calories are from fat and forty percent are from protein. About twenty percent of these calories come from carbohydrates, which means that a serving has about one gram of carbohydrates.

About half of the carbohydrates in the dairy milk are from fat. About a quarter of the carbohydrates come from fiber, meaning that about twelve grams of fat are in a serving of milk. A third of the carbohydrates come from glucose, which is a simple sugar, and about a quarter of these carbohydrates come from lactose, a sugar commonly found in milk, which is broken down into sugars by the body.

About a quarter of the carbohydrates in yogurt come from fat. This is because of the fat content of yogurt, which is about ten grams. The rest of the carbohydrates are made up of protein, which is about four grams in a serving of yogurt. About one to two tablespoons of yogurt contains about twenty to thirty grams of protein, which is mostly fat. The carbohydrates are not broken down or absorbed by the body, so they stay in the blood stream.

Another question often asked is how much cheese should a person eat to receive all the nutrients from it? The answer is, it depends. Some cheeses contain more carbohydrates than others, but all the good ones have less than ten grams of carbohydrates per serving. Low-fat and low-sugar cheeses are especially good if you are lactose intolerant. It is difficult for lactose intolerant people to digest lactose, so they must choose low-fat and low-sugar cheeses to allow their bodies to digest lactose easier. Cheeses with no fat and sugar are best for lactose-intolerant people because these products are also high in calcium.

People who are on carbohydrate restricted diets should consult their dietitians to suggest low-carb and low-sugar dairy products. Such diets are based on counting the carbohydrates in the food. In such diets, there are no or very low-calorie versions of most dairy products, like cream, cottage cheese, ice cream and butter. Instead, substitute low-carb versions with low-sugar, low-fat versions. If you have difficulty eating dairy products on your weight loss plans, you can try calcium-fortified orange juice, non-dairy whipped cream or sugar-free jello cake.
